Allison Shelstad

My name is Allison Shelstad and I reside in Calgary, Alberta with my husband and our little dog Reba. We have a blended family of my two daughters, one step daughter, and two step sons. Recently, we became grandparents! 

I was born in Southern Alberta near Arrowwood, which is the traditional home of the Blackfoot, Siksika Nation.  Being a farmer's daughter, I was always interested in machinery, growing crops, gardening, and working with animals.  I was quite dyslexic growing up and had the good fortune of having a practical father who figured out how to teach me math (poker) and physics (lifting bales and playing pool).  I have applied this practicality to many aspects of my professional and personal life but I struggle with having a very "black and white" view of the world.   

Professionally, I have spent my career in the utility, software, and oil and gas industries and have worn many hats.  Currently, I work as a Management Consultant in the management system and assurance space.   My personal "brand" is I like to analyze and make sense of complex things which is why I have been drawn to complete my Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies.
