MSN Portfolio Introduction

Learning is a continuous, lifelong process. Personally, I believe that we always have something to learn, and if we are no longer learning, then we have halted our potential for further growth. This personal belief strongly contributes to my decision for applying to the Master of Nursing: Generalist (MN:GEN) program, with a focus in teaching. Since a young age, I have had an interest and passion for teaching. In fact, for a considerable amount of my childhood and early teenage years, I desired to be a professor. The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), in specific, the education stream, would allow me to combine my passion for nursing with my strong desire for teaching.

Currently, I work as a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) on a medical behaviour unit at Surrey Memorial Hospital, which falls under Fraser Health Authority (FHA). I also have practicing registration as an RN with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and I am a member of the British Columbia Nurses Union (BCNU). I have been working as an RN for approximately two years now, and I absolutely love the profession. I have always had a passion and desire for helping others, and hopefully, to positively touch and impact another individual’s life. Nursing allows me to do just that.

My professional obligation is to maintain my own health, as well as the health and well-being of the patients I provide care for.

I have created this ePortfolio to present my professional work throughout the MN:GEN program, which will illustrate the learning and development that I have achieved throughout my MSN.
