The Journey Begins
John F. Kennedy once said, “leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.”
As I have navigated my way through EDDE 804, I feel I have learned a great deal about leadership and more importantly my capacity as a leader. The following pages are a culmination of my thoughts and my reflections as I have partaken in this course. With each unit we discussed, I have been given further insight and understanding to my leadership capacity. As leaders in our schools, we are looked at as the instructional leaders. We are often the mentors and the teachers, and we are not often afforded the opportunity to be the learners and focus on our own development as a leader.
As I take the time to reflect on each of the topics, I feel that my leadership capacity has grown and I look forward to further developing my potential as a leader in the years to come.
Lead also with your heart
Change can be difficult and overwhelming. When faced with difficult decisions, the power to make change becomes even greater. As I watched the TedTalk about making change in schools, I understand the power that administrators have to foster the change. Change begins with us. When moments at my school get tough, I am reminded that with passion and caring, I too can make change. I can be the leader my school needs.
