Quick Tour of the e-Portfolio interface
Once your access to the e-Portfolio site has been established, you will have access to 4 different tabs that appear under the e-lab portfolio heading: Dashboard, Content, Portfolio, and Groups.
At the top of the page is a navigation menu.
Dashboard links you to the home page of the e-portfolio site, which lists pages you have access to, as well as some quick links to other dynamic content.
Content links you to your content repository. This includes uploaded files, resumes, profile information, and learning plans.
Portfolio links you to your portfolio pages and collections, along with menu options for sharing your portfolios and collections.
Groups links you to any groups you are currently a member of, as well as providing you tools for finding new groups to engage with.
Under the navigation menu is some welcoming text, a section of quick help links for the portfolio site, and a home page information box. You can hide the home page information block by clicking the X in the top right corner.
Underneath this is your dashboard. For most users, this shows the following blocks:
- Latest Pages: A list of new pages shared on the site. This list can contain your pages as well as pages others have shared with you or all logged in users. If your pages have not been shared with others, they will not appear in this list when others view their own dashboard.
- My Pages: A list of your pages, for quick reference.
- Inbox: A list of site messages and notifications.
- Topics I'm following: A list of group forum topics you have replied to, or have subscribed to.
You can edit the layout and contents of your Dashboard in the Portfolio section.
Next to the navigation menu are quick links to your Profile, Settings, and Notifications.
To the right, you will see some quick links to any groups you are a member of.
Under your group links, you will see a list of Online users.
Under Online Users, you will see a Profile Completion widget. This helps you learn more about using your e-portfolio, by walking you through different aspects of it.
Under the welcoming text on your dashboard, you will see three information boxes. These also help you learn the e-portfolio interface by directing you to commonly undertaken tasks, such as creating a new portfolio, sharing, and engaging with other users.
Finally, you will see a list of updates at the bottom of the Dashboard. This shows you a list of Portfolio collections and pages you can access, any notifications in your Inbox, and Group discussions you are following or have contributed to.
