Concluding Thoughts in Social Software

Concluding Thoughts

Much like many of my classmates I am not much of a e-socializer.

I found Athabasca Landing to be quite cumbersome and just another place to post/respond/comment. Although I understand its purpose and support the idea of building a community, I am partial to Mahara, it seems to have the features that I am personally interested in.

As for applying this to online courses, I did some research and found that BC Campus, for our particular program, does not offer any type of social software for students. Interestingly there is a social space for instructors. Since many of the online Office Administration courses lack cooperative and collaborative learning activities, I foresee that social software would be a welcoming addition to the online program.
